In the meeting of September 5, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers approved changes to the construction product market surveillance procedures, incorporating the latest requirements of the concrete conformity assessment standard into the regulations.
The latest standard requirements were reviewed and approved by the Latvian Standardization Technical Committee based on the proposal of industry professionals, ensuring the implementation of modern requirements for concrete construction.
The standard has specified requirements for determining concrete durability, particularly in Annex A, Section A.6, "Testing methods for determining concrete durability," Section A.3, table "Number of test cycles required to obtain intermediate results," and table A.4, "Number of test cycles required to obtain final results."
It should be noted that the standards mentioned in accordance with the regulation are mandatory, not voluntary.
According to the regulation, concrete producers will need to review internal concrete production and control procedures to ensure compliance with the new standard requirements. To accomplish this, a transitional period until March 1, 2024, has been set, during which both versions of the standard can be used for concrete conformity assessment.
The approved amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 156 of March 25, 2014, "Procedures for Market Surveillance of Construction Products," are available on the unified Legal Acts Portal.
