36 buildings have been submitted for the “Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia” competition.

This year, the “Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia” competition has received a total of 36 applications, with the highest number – 19 buildings – competing in the category “Most Energy Efficient Renovated Multi-Apartment Building in Latvia 2025.”

In the category “Most Energy Efficient Renovated Multi-Apartment Building in Latvia 2025”, 19 applications have been submitted for buildings located at the following addresses:

  1. Kristapa iela 18, Riga;

  2. Garozas iela 24, Jelgava;

  3. Oskara Kalpaka iela 35, Jelgava;

  4. Kastaņu iela 2a, Jelgava;

  5. Katoļu iela 9, Jelgava;

  7. Jāņa Enkmaņa iela 1, Valmiera;

  8. Linarda Laicena iela 12, Valmiera;

  9. Voldemāra Baloža iela 7, Valmiera;

In the category “Most Energy Efficient Public Building in Latvia 2025”, 10 applications have been submitted for buildings at the following addresses:

  1. Prohorova iela 11, Jelgava (Dormitory);

  2. Tvaika iela 2, Riga (National Centre for Mental Health, State Ltd.);

  3. Rubeņu iela 2A, Salaspils, Salaspils municipality (Salaspils 2nd Preschool Institution, division “Seventh Kindergarten”);

  4. Mazcenas aleja 39, Jaunmārupe, Mārupe municipality (Mārupe School of Music and Art);

  5. Kurzemes prospekts 1A, Riga (Shopping Centre Damme);

  6. Mūkusalas iela 71, Riga (Shopping Centre Riga Plaza);

  7. Liepnieku iela 1, Brocēni, Saldus municipality (Virši fuel station);

  8. Skolas iela 4, Ikšķile (Multifunctional Service Centre);

  9. Kuldīgas iela 20, Liepāja (Children’s Support Centre “Dzintari”);

  10. Skanstes iela 25, Riga (Office Building Elemental).

In the category “Most Energy Efficient Single-Family House in Latvia”, three applications have been submitted:

  1. Pededzes iela 18, Mārupe;

  2. Bebrīšu iela 10, Inčukalns, Sigulda municipality;

  3. Penkules iela 50C, Mārupe.

In the category “Most Energy Efficient Industrial Building in Latvia”, three applications have been submitted:

  1. Krūzes iela 17, Riga (New warehouse and office building);

  2. Brīvības iela 142A, Liepāja (Caljan LSEZ Ltd.);

  3. Zaļā iela 3, Gulbene.

The “Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia” competition has been organized for the 15th consecutive year as part of the “Live Warmer” campaign. The goal of the competition is to promote best practices in building energy efficiency and sustainability by implementing energy-efficient construction, renovation, and reconstruction, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and increasing public awareness of well-being, building thermal resistance, indoor climate, and the importance and possibilities of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to create a high-quality, architecturally expressive living environment.

Applications for the “Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia 2025” competition could be submitted until June 18, 2025. It is planned that during the summer, the competition jury will evaluate all submitted applications, select buildings for the second round of the competition, and conduct on-site inspections. The award ceremony for the competition winners is scheduled for September this year.

The competition regulations have been prepared in cooperation with the partners of the “Live Warmer” campaign, including: the Latvian Association of House Managers and Administrators, the Latvian Association of Window and Door Manufacturers, Riga Technical University, Riga Stradiņš University, the Building Materials Manufacturers Association, the Latvian Association of Heating, Gas and Water Technology Engineers, the Sustainable Construction Council, the State Construction Control Bureau, the State Fire and Rescue Service, LLC “Publisko aktīvu pārvaldītājs Possessor,” the Rural Support Service, the Development Finance Institution Altum, AS “Sadales tīkls”, the Central Finance and Contracting Agency, and the Energy and Environmental Agency.
