The organizers of the competition “The Most Energy-Efficient Building in Latvia 2025” invite residents to take part in the contest and vote for the building they find most appealing in terms of energy efficiency until 15 September at 17:00.

Information about all the buildings submitted for this year’s competition is available on the competition’s website. The building that receives the highest number of public votes will be awarded the People’s Choice Award. Voting is available on the competition website: https://energoefektivakaeka.lv/2025-gads/balsosana/. Each person may vote once per day from a single IP address.

For the 15th year, as part of the Ministry of Economics’ campaign “Live Warmer”, the competition “The Most Energy-Efficient Building in Latvia” is held with the aim of promoting best practices in building energy efficiency and sustainability through energy-efficient construction, renovation, and reconstruction. This helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while also raising public awareness about well-being, building insulation, indoor climate, and the importance and possibilities of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in order to create a high-quality and architecturally expressive living environment.

Applications for the competition “The Most Energy-Efficient Building in Latvia 2025” were open until 18 June of this year. In total, 36 buildings were submitted across five categories. During the summer, the jury evaluated all submitted entries and conducted on-site visits for the shortlisted buildings in the second round. The results are now being compiled to determine this year’s most energy-efficient buildings. The award ceremony will take place on 18 September.

The competition is organized by the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Climate and Energy, and the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers. The competition rules were prepared in cooperation with the campaign “Live Warmer” partners – the Latvian Association of Property Managers and Administrators, the Latvian Association of Window and Door Manufacturers, Riga Technical University, Riga Stradins University, the Association of Building Material Manufacturers, the Latvian Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers’ Association, the Sustainable Building Council, the State Construction Control Bureau, the State Fire and Rescue Service, Possessor (State-owned Assets Management Company), the Rural Support Service, Sadales tīkls AS (Distribution Network Operator), the Central Finance and Contracting Agency, and the Energy and Environmental Agency.
