Innovative companies in the woodworking and construction sectors are invited to apply for a trade mission taking place in Bolzano, Italy, during the “Klimahouse 2027” exhibition from 27 to 30 January 2027.

Klimahouse is a leading industry exhibition in Italy’s Alpine region focusing on energy-efficient and sustainable construction solutions. It highlights the importance of wood as a sustainable material and showcases innovative timber construction methods. The exhibition brings together Italian and Austrian woodworking companies offering energy-efficient materials, renewable energy systems and sustainable technologies. Italy is an important player in the European timber construction market, particularly in the field of timber-frame and modular buildings, which account for approximately 2.8% of the total housing stock and 8.5% of the overall building stock. The main regions where timber construction companies are concentrated are Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Trentino-Alto Adige.

The aim of the trade mission is to visit Klimahouse to establish new contacts, meet industry companies of interest to the mission participants, and explore trends in timber construction and opportunities for cooperation in northern Italy.

No more than four companies will be approved for participation.

English-language proficiency is required to participate in the mission and related events. Knowledge of German or Italian will be considered an advantage.

Preliminary Programme

• 27–30 January 2027 – Visit to the exhibition

  • LIAA’s Representative Office in Italy will have a 20 m² stand at the exhibition, where participating companies will be able to display information and hold meetings.

  • Participation in the Klimahouse conference, featuring various thematic sessions.

• Earliest return: morning of 31 January.

Costs to Be Covered by Participating Companies

• LIAA participation fee equivalent to 20 person-hours (EUR 797.20 + VAT);

• if the company meets the eligibility criteria for de minimis aid, the participation fee will be covered under the support programme;

• if the company does not meet the eligibility criteria for de minimis aid, LIAA will issue an invoice to the company (the cost of one person-hour is EUR 39.86 + VAT);

• individual transport expenses;

• accommodation costs (hotel expenses).

The trade mission is organised by LIAA under the Innovative Entrepreneurship Development Programme for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Latvian state budget.

Companies may participate either by paying the participation costs themselves or by receiving support. To receive support, a company must meet the applicable eligibility criteria. Companies can check whether they qualify for support using the Self-Assessment Calculator.

Companies receiving support may recover up to 60% of the total eligible costs, including 60% of air travel costs for up to three representatives from each company.

Following the event, companies that meet the quality criteria for receiving support will be able to submit a payment request via the liaa.business.gov.lv platform. Before completing the application, companies are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the conditions of the activity in the “Trade Missions Abroad” section.

Applications for participation in the trade mission must be submitted via the liaa.business.gov.lv platform by 23:59 on 31 October 2026.
