European Commission Representation in Latvia

The Innovation Fund Info Day will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the European Commission Representation in Latvia. The event will run from 9:00 to 12:30, followed by individual, pre-scheduled consultations with project applicants.

Representatives from the European Commission (DG CLIMA), the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), the Innovation Fund National Contact Point, and the Latvian Innovation and Technology Office in Brussels will participate in the event.

Latvian business representatives interested in securing funding for innovative technology projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions are invited to attend.

Innovation Fund Overview:
The projects supported by the Innovation Fund, financed from revenues generated within the EU Emissions Trading System, cover a wide range of innovative technologies, including:

  • Energy-intensive industries
  • Renewable energy
  • Energy storage
  • Mobility
  • Buildings
  • Hydrogen
  • Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS)

  • IF24 Calls: Net-zero technologies and batteries; renewable hydrogen auction (Roman Doubrava, Head of Innovation Fund Unit, DG CLIMA)
  • Award criteria, lessons learned, and best practices (Christophe Dehout, Head of Financial Engineering Sector, CINEA)
  • Q&A session

Note:

  • Seats for in-person participation are limited.
  • Individual consultations will be allocated to companies based on the readiness level of their project proposals for the 2024 Innovation Fund project call.

Guidelines for Individual Consultations

Orientation dialogues:

  • Objective: To help potential applicants assess their project's suitability for the Innovation Fund and clarify call text or official guidance. These dialogues do not influence the outcome of the official evaluation.
  • Duration: 25 minutes per project/applicant, with a 5-minute break.
  • Structure:
    • 5-7 minutes: Applicant presents their project aligned with the award criteria.
    • 18-20 minutes: Q&A session.

The European Commission Representation in Latvia, the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA), the Ministry of Climate and Energy, and the Employers' Confederation of Latvia (LDDK).
