From now on, garden houses, sheds, and other buildings constructed through the simplified process can be registered in the Land Register in a simplified manner. On January 23 of this year, the Saeima in the final reading supported the amendments to the law "On the Registration of Real Estate in the Land Register" developed by the Ministry of Economics. As a result, buildings constructed through the simplified process, such as sheds, garden houses, saunas, sheds, and similar buildings, can be registered in the Land Register without a decision from the building authority.

Reducing bureaucracy in various sectors is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Economics. Since last year, we have paid special attention to the construction and real estate sectors, where reducing the administrative burden is also significant for promoting investment. The support provided by the Saeima today for our proposal will give people the opportunity to build and register their properties without long and expensive processes. At the same time, we are also evaluating the proportionality of the involvement of municipal building authorities in other processes, without worsening the legal protection of the bona fide acquirer,” emphasizes the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, Jurģis Miezainis.

The amendments to the law will significantly reduce the administrative burden and facilitate the process of registering buildings constructed through the simplified process in the Land Register, i.e., based on a construction notification – they will be registered in the Land Register based on a certified specialist's confirmation of the building's existence in the field (execution measurement plan).

The notification process applies to the construction of small buildings, i.e., buildings with an area not exceeding 25 square meters.
