Published Monday, 09 September 2024The organizers of the competition "The Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia 2024" invite residents to participate in the event and vote for their favorite energy-efficient building in Latvia by 11:59 p.m. on September 15 this year.
Information about all the buildings submitted for this year’s competition has been published on the competition’s website. The building that receives the most votes from the public will be awarded the Public Choice Award. Voting can be done on the competition website: https://energoefektivakaeka.lv/2024-gads/balsosana/. You can vote for your favorite once a day from a single IP address.
For the 14th year, the competition "The Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia" is being held as part of the Ministry of Economics' "Live Warmer" campaign, with the aim of promoting good practices in energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings. This is achieved by encouraging the construction, renovation, and reconstruction of energy-efficient buildings, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions and raising public awareness about well-being, thermal insulation, indoor climate, and the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to create a high-quality, architecturally expressive living space.
Applications for the competition "The Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia 2024" were accepted until June 18 this year. A total of 43 building applications were received this year. During the summer, the competition's jury evaluated all the submitted applications and carried out on-site evaluations of the buildings selected for the second round. The competition results are currently being compiled to decide the most energy-efficient buildings of this year. The award ceremony for the competition winners will take place on September 19 this year.
The competition regulations were prepared in collaboration with the partners of the “Live Warmer” information campaign, including the State Construction Control Bureau, the State Fire and Rescue Service, the European Commission Representation in Latvia, AS "Sadales tīkls," Elektrum Energy Efficiency Center, the Rural Support Service, Riga Energy Agency, Riga Technical University, Riga Stradiņš University, the Latvian Association of Building Managers and Administrators, the Latvian Window and Door Manufacturers Association, the Building Materials Manufacturers Association, the Latvian Mineral Wool Manufacturers Association, the Latvian Association of Heating, Gas, and Water Technology Engineers, and SIA “Publisko aktīvu pārvaldītājs Possessor.”
The competition is co-financed by EU funds. The competition’s supporters include the Finance Industry Association, SIA "Paroc," SIA "Saint-Gobain Building Products," SIA "Knauf," SIA "Rockwool," the Development Finance Institution “Altum,” AS "Latvenergo," VentSys, AS "Rīgas siltums," SIA "Robert Bosch," SIA "Innovation B&G," Proclima, Enervent, and SIA “Web Multishop Company.” The competition’s media supporters are the magazine "Būvinženieris," the newspaper "Latvijas Avīze," and the construction portals www.abc.lv, https://archidea.lv, and www.building.lv.
