A total of 41 applications have been received for this year's competition "The Most Energy-Efficient Building in Latvia 2026". The strongest competition is expected in the category "The Most Energy-Efficient Renovated Multi-Apartment Building in Latvia 2026", where 21 buildings—more than half of all applicants—are competing for the award.

Thirteen applications have been submitted in this category for the following buildings:

Category: The Most Energy-Efficient Industrial Building in Latvia 2026
Two applications have been submitted:
- Caljan LSEZ Ltd. (142A Brīvības Street, Liepāja);
- "Karotītes" Farm ("Vecmuižnieki", Tume Parish, Tukums Municipality).
Applications for the competition were accepted until 17 June 2026. By the end of August 2026, the competition jury is expected to decide which buildings will advance to the second stage of the competition, involving on-site inspections. The award ceremony for this year's winners is planned for September 2026.
The competition is organised by the Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of Climate and Energy in cooperation with the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers.
The competition regulations have been developed together with the partners of the "Live Warmer" information campaign, including the Latvian Association of Housing Managers and Administrators, the Latvian Association of Window and Door Manufacturers, Riga Technical University, Rīga Stradiņš University, the University of Latvia, the Latvian Association of Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers, the Latvian Sustainable Building Council, the State Construction Control Bureau, the Latvian Construction Contractors Partnership, the State Fire and Rescue Service, Possessor Ltd., and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency.
The competition is co-financed by the EU Funds (#ESfunds).
The competition is supported by Paroc Ltd., Saint-Gobain Building Products Ltd., Rockwool Ltd., the Development Finance Institution Altum, Latvenergo JSC, VentSys, Rīgas siltums JSC, Gaso JSC, and Sadales tīkls JSC.
Media partners include Būvinženieris magazine, Latvijas Avīze newspaper, and the construction portals abc.lv, archidea.lv, and building.lv.
