An additional state budget financing of 1.5 million EUR will be available for the implementation of 10 pilot projects aimed at renovating multi-apartment residential buildings using industrially manufactured wooden frame panels.
On Tuesday, April 1, the government decided—in support of the amendments to Cabinet Regulation No. 880 dated December 17, 2024, “Support Program Conditions for the Implementation of Energy Efficiency Improvement Measures in Multi-Apartment Residential Buildings”—that the allocated funding will allow an additional allocation of up to 20% support per project, but no more than 150,000 EUR from the project’s eligible costs.
Economics Minister Viktors Valainis stated:
“This is a significant step not only for improving Latvia’s energy efficiency but also for promoting sustainable construction. With these projects, we will not only renovate old multi-apartment buildings but also give a boost to the local economy by creating demand for high-quality, industrially manufactured wooden frame panels. We favor green energy and sustainable construction technologies that pave the way for the future of Latvia.”
The additional funding is intended as a supplement to the existing support program, under which support covering 50% of the eligible costs is available from European Union fund financing if industrially manufactured wooden frame panels are used in the renovation of multi-apartment residential buildings. Thus, with an extra support of 20%, the total support for one project can reach up to 70%. This approach will not only reduce the energy consumption of buildings but also foster the growth of local manufacturers by introducing new products to the market.
On April 3, 2025, at 11:00, ALTUM will begin accepting applications for the support program for improving energy efficiency in multi-apartment residential buildings. Interested parties can obtain more information and follow the application process on ALTUM’s website at www.altum.lv.
