Published Tuesday, 17 October 2023In the session on October 17 this year, the Cabinet of Ministers supported the proposal of the Ministry of Economics to allocate an additional grant funding of 460,000 euros for supporting private homes in enhancing energy efficiency and implementing renewable energy technologies.
By allocating an additional funding of 460,000 euros, it is expected that about 152 private homes will be supported, and new micro-generation electricity production technological equipment with a total additional capacity of 1,216 kW will be installed (the average installed solar panel system capacity for a private home has been 8 kW to date).
Given that no guarantee has been used for risk coverage during the program's implementation, financial resources from the funding intended for guarantee risk coverage are being redirected to grant expenses for enhancing energy efficiency and introducing renewable energy technologies.
Detailed information on the amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers’ regulations No. 103 of February 11, 2021, “Regulations on the Support Program for the Renovation and Energy Efficiency Improvement of Single-Apartment and Two-Apartment Residential Houses” can be found on the Legal Acts Portal.
The support program for enhancing the energy efficiency of private homes and implementing renewable energy technologies was launched in May 2021. The program is implemented by the Development Finance Institution Altum (ALTUM). To date, projects have been submitted for all currently available funding under the program; accordingly, the acceptance of new applications is temporarily suspended until additional funding is allocated. ALTUM will resume accepting project applications in the coming days after the amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers' regulations take effect, and interested parties are invited to follow the information on the ALTUM website.
Physical persons who have property rights to a single-apartment class house registered in the Land Register, which is in operation and not used for commercial activities, can receive support. The support can be used for construction work on the enclosing structures of the residential house; purchase, renewal, reconstruction, or creation of engineering systems (for example, heating and ventilation equipment); purchase and installation of new water heating equipment; purchase and installation of micro-generation thermal energy or electricity production technological equipment to ensure the production of thermal energy or electricity from renewable energy resources and supply of heat or electricity, as well as other measures if they are necessary for enhancing the energy efficiency of the residential house. Additional information about the support program is available on the ALTUM website.
Within the framework of the program, a total of 1,088 private home projects have been approved so far, with total funding of 4.68 million euros, and the evaluation and contracting of the projects already submitted continues.
