On Friday, 14 August 2026, the evaluation of buildings entered in the “Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building 2026” competition will begin. The jury will visit and evaluate 23 energy-efficient buildings in 10 locations across Latvia.

On 14 August, the jury will visit three renovated multi-apartment buildings – Darba iela 5 in Talsi, “Ezerkrasti” in Dižstende and Baltijas iela 13 in Liepāja – as well as one public building, the “Liedags” Preschool Educational Institution at Saulrietu iela 7 in Liepāja, and two industrial buildings: ZS “Karotīte” in Vecmuižnieki, Tume Parish, Tukums Municipality, and Caljan LSEZ SIA at Brīvības iela 142A.

On 18 August, the jury will visit five renovated multi-apartment buildings: Skolas iela 2 and Zemgales iela 27 in Olaine, Meža iela 18 in Jaunolaine, Gaismas iela 19 k-6 in Ķekava and Bauskas iela 53 in Riga. The jury will also evaluate one newly constructed multi-apartment building at Grēdu iela 17 in Riga and two public buildings – a social services building at Slimnīcas iela 4 in Bauska and the University of Latvia student residence at Mazā Lubānas iela 11 in Riga.

On 21 August, the jury will evaluate a renovated multi-apartment building at Edgara Kauliņa aleja 9 in Lielvārde and two public buildings: Lejasciems Primary School at Rīgas iela 20, Lejasciems, Gulbene Municipality, and the Vidzeme Rehabilitation Centre at Jumaras iela 195 in Valmiera.

On 28 August, the jury will conclude its on-site evaluation in Riga. Six buildings will be evaluated: three public buildings – the office building at Antonijas iela 17, the New Hanza office building at Mihaila Tāla iela 1 and StokOfiss U34 at Ulbrokas iela 34 – as well as three newly constructed multi-apartment buildings at Gdaņskas iela 6, Sergeja Eizenšteina iela 47A and Ēvalda Valtera iela 1.

About the “Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building” Competition

For the 16th year, the “Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building” competition is being organised as part of the “Live Warmer” information campaign.

The competition aims to promote best practices in building energy efficiency and sustainability by encouraging the construction, renovation and reconstruction of energy-efficient buildings, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and raising public awareness of well-being, the thermal performance of buildings, indoor climate, and the importance and opportunities of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in order to create high-quality and architecturally appealing living environments.

Applications for the “Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building 2026” competition were accepted until 18 June 2026. A total of 41 buildings in four categories were entered in the competition. The award ceremony for the competition winners is planned for September 2026.

The competition is organised by the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Climate and Energy, and the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers.

The competition regulations have been developed in cooperation with the partners of the “Live Warmer” information campaign: the Latvian Association of Property Managers and Administrators, the Latvian Window and Door Manufacturers Association, Riga Technical University, Rīga Stradiņš University, the Association of Building Materials Manufacturers, the Latvian Association of Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers, the Latvian Construction Contractors Association, the State Construction Control Bureau, the Latvian Association of Architects, the University of Latvia, the State Fire and Rescue Service, SIA “Publisko aktīvu pārvaldītājs Possessor”, and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency.

The competition is co-financed by EU Funds.
